The Best of 2011: Free Downloads of the Year
A remix of Swallow from Mr. J Medeiros’s album Saudade. On this remix, Mr. J Medeiros is accompanied by more of a dub step type production style. Download link if you click the video.
Bop Alloy finally revealed the video for Chillaxation of their album Bop Alloy released early last year. The visuals on this video are nice, and I love the chair, which looks super comfortable, that is in every shot.
The Roots - UNDUN from The Ghettonerd Company, LLC on Vimeo.
A little late on this video, but The Roots have released a mini video for their album Undun which illustrates the entire concept and gives you a glimpse into the fictional character Redford Stephen’s life.

The Best of 2011: Kwes’ Albums of the Year
For our next guest list we asked the author of our new column Letters From The Front, Kwes, to tell us his favourite five tracks of the last year.
Thr3e is the third installment of Theory Hazit’s lord fire series. While some may be turned away from the religious focus that Theory Hazit and Humblebeast bring to their music, it really isn’t about that. Theory Hazit has proven himself to be a great MC, and with the production being handled on Thr3e by Dert, the whole album flows very smoothly.

They’re a relatively young group of rappers.
That’s pretty much all the Whethermen have in common with strange internet sensation, OFWGKTA. So seeing as we’re not into rape that much, we’re siding with nerdy and intellectual Whethermen. We’ve already raved about highly quotable rapper, Milo, but the other day we got sent through an email from Safari Al. The singer/rapper has just released his first mixtape, Hermitage Academy, and I’m not going to lie, it’s pretty damn good. Highly recommended, and these are definitely, ones to look out for in 2012.
Probably too much of a sucker for a laid-back beat with filters on it, but this is pretty good. Ljones provides visuals for “To The Grove” of his recently released, and free, beattape, “Soul-Below”. Download it here.

The Best of 2011: Andy Cooper’s Albums of the Year
For the first time we’re going to allow our favourite artists have a say on their favourite artists. So before we finish up with our album of the year list, let’s hear what others thought of the past 12 months in music. First off, Ugly Duckling’s Andy Cooper.
Who could forget 2011? A year filled with, um, well, there was that one time when, uh…darn, I don’t remember anything. after 365 days, it can all become a blur but, somehow, I do recall some really good music so as I groove my way into 2012, I would like to submit my favorite albums of 2011 in no particular order…
Another video from Notes to Self. This one is for the song All of the Above, and the video is pretty sweet. The whole theme of the video and the colors they use really add to the song. The song it self has some pretty strong production carried by the rough lyrics. Check it out.
