“Back With the Tracks” by Awon & Kameleon Beats

This is a pretty cool video that shows Awon & Kameleon through the process of writing/producing the song and then recording the finished product.

Stream Oddisee’s People Hear What They See

Well after listening to the album at least a few times, I am thoroughly impressed. You can listen to the stream on SPIN’s site. The album comes out in a couple weeks and you can purchase it on all major digital retailers.

“Living” by Arrested Development

These guys have been making music for twenty-four years now and it’s safe to say they’ve got this whole liberal hip-hop thing down. Presumably off their seventh album, “Living” is a politically charged anthem for the left.

“Keep Loving” by Freddie Joachim feat Carlitta Durand

“Keep Loving” by Freddie Joachim feat Carlitta Durand

Freddie Joachim is fast becoming one of my favorite producers alongside Oddisee to listen too. This track is the first single of his upcoming album titled Fiberglass Kisses. The soulful singing of Carlitta Durand blends perfectly with the jazz infused production from Freddie Joachim. There is also a remix of the track from London based producer Eric Lau, and it sounds great as well.

“Rhyme Training (feat. Abdominal)” by Piece of Mind

“Rhyme Training (feat. Abdominal)” by Piece of Mind

I’ll be honest, I was drawn to this track by seeing Abdominal’s name. The Toronto based MC has been working on a follow up to 2007′s Escape From The Pigeon Hole for a long time and we’re happy any time we see The Pedal Pusher’s name appear on new material. However, like most of time when I listen Canadian artists, I find another favourite to add to the list. Piece of Mind, who also have an album on the horizion, are another artist from north of the border worth following. Oh Canada.

“Chain Glow” by Cocaine 80′s feat Nas

“Chain Glow” by Cocaine 80′s feat Nas

Since first hearing Cocaine 80′s last fall right before Common’s new album dropped, I have been hooked on their music. The combination of the R&B/Soul of James Fauntleroy and the hip-hop production from No I.D with appearances by Common were enough for me. This past week 3 new tracks dropped and Chain Glow is probably the best of the bunch.

Oddisee’s “People Hear What They See” The People’s Verdict

The results of taking a camera and a pair of headphones around London’s southbank, and letting them listen to Oddisee’s new track. Turns out it sounds like a cacophony of blogs. Great idea though. Off his new album, with the same name as this track, which is due out in a few weeks time.

“Tonight (feat. J-Live, M3 & Erica Dee) by DJ Nu-Mark

With his long-awaited solo debut album Broken Sunlight due out later this year DJ Nu-Mark has just released this classic sounding J-Live collab. Last year both Jurassic 5 DJs released mixes around the same time and it’s looking like their solo albums might be going head-to-head this year as well. Either way it looks like a great year, with Chali 2na also releasing new material, for any starved fans of the J5.

“Almost There” by Skewby

Memphis emcee, Skewby, just released the visuals for the self-aware “Almost There”. This is off his recently released Humble Pie, an EP I’ve been meaning to listen to more because what I’ve heard so far sounds pretty decent.
