Brown Bag All Stars’ Soul Khan has just released his latest EP, Wellstone, for free on DJBooth. The undeniably New York, rapper throws out references and political commentary at an unrelenting pace, not to disimilar to Pharaohe Monch. One I’ve had on repeat for the last few hours, definitely a freebee you don’t want to pass on.
So this came out a little while ago, but nonetheless it is super dope. Freddie Joachim and Question are two guys who definitely know how to blend hip-hop, soul, & jazz into awesomeness. This is a sweet almost hour-long podcast filled with some great tunes, so watch it and just vibe out.

Our favourite genre-justifying nerd rapper, Milo, has left us waiting for the follow up, to the excellent I Wish My Brother Rob Was Here, ever since we finished listening to “Bill Murray’s Prayer”. His 2nd mixtape, using production by Baths, is appropriately titled Milo Takes Baths has just seen the light of day. Milo takes his autobiographical lyrics to an entirely new level here, picking excellently curated beats by Anitcon’s Baths. There is a reason we gave Milo’s last mixtape such high praise and yet Milo Takes Baths somehow manages to live up to that high bar. Just download it already.
Aeon Gray is a conscious lyricist we’ve unfortunately slept on for too long. So to make up for that, we implore you to go and give this man money for this EP. It might be a little short in five tracks and one instrumental, but we’re advocates of quality first, so get that wallet out. Although for those so inclined it is available on a name your price deal, and the minimum is 0. If you’re into that.
Continuing with the semi valentines day/love themed music, Brother Ali released The Bite Marked Heart, an EP which serves as a buffer between his last album and his upcoming album Mourning in American and Dreaming in Color.

A beat/instrumental EP album from Lyle Horowitz. Big fan of the different sounds and it all flows together seamlessly. A few of the tracks sound very simple yet elegant. I am a big fan of the distorted horn sound on Eternal, and Redamancy also features a artists like Big Pooh and Prezzure.
I always like it when a producer just decides to make a collection of snippets and current beats public. Each beat is like a minute or two long and then you move on to the next one. Along side this release Luv Jonez puts out the call for any MCs that want to work with him, there’s enough solid beats here, that we should be hearing a few of these again soon.
