This time last year, shortly after we set this thing up, we released our belated Soundtrack to the Summer – 51 minutes of laid back hip-hop for BBQs and sunny weekends. I’ll admit it, I was hoping to get the Best of 2010 mix out at the end of 2010 but it ended up coming out nearly two weeks into the new year. However, the other thing we were hoping to do was put out more of these things. Since our weekly Top Sixes are on hiatus (exciting developments to come soon though) this is one of the better ways to share older music with you, along with a some current stuff. So that’s why we’re putting out another January Mixcloud.
It’s finally time for our 2nd mixcloud release. Last year we released our Soundtrack to the Summer and have been caught in the headlights are was the rest of 2010. But as we begin to move onto an even brighter looking 2011, let’s celebrate what a great year 2010 was for cliché-free hip-hop. Here are fourteen tracks from our Best of 2010 awards/lists. They aren’t in any order, just a nice selection of tracks from across the board.
We’re never ones to miss out on an opportunity and despite being towards the tail end of the summer, we couldn’t bear the thought of not making this post. At the core of the site is good music. Good music that we want to share with you. Now if someone can tell me a better way to share music than mixtapes, I’d like to know.
