As I’m sure you’re already aware, today Adam Yauch aka MCA of The Beastie Boys has passed away at the age of 47. The reason for already being aware is from the outcry and incredible show of support across the hip-hop community on blogs and Twitter. None more apt than the following quote from Sasha Frere-Jones in the New Yorker, “Adam Yauch was a part of my childhood, an ambassador to America from our New York, which is now gone, as is he.” There has been an official obituary of sorts put out on the Beastie’s website, that pays great tribute to one of the pioneers of this genre.
Tiron & Ayomari are at it again with another video from their album A Sucker For Pumps. The song tells a really good story, and the video is beautifully done.
This video features Moka Only skating, wearing a wooly hat & doing a silly dance, which pretty much ticks the boxes for what we want out of a Moka Only video. Here are the visuals for Moka Only & Ayatollah’s chilled out “Come Along” off their new album Bridges.
Key points to take from this. One, a new Kero One album is coming out in the summer. Two, first track is called “What Am I Supposed To Do?” and is pretty damn good. Three, 50% of the proceeds from this single go to the charity, Free The Slaves.

We’ve had Wordburglar’s third album, appropriately titled 3rdburglar, on our list of upcoming albums for a long time now – we were starting to get worried. Luckily though, he’s recently released his first single from this long-awaited album. “Rhyme O’Clock” is pure hip-hop through and through as Wordburglar & More or Les pass the mic back and forth. The latest date on the album is set for May 2012.
Being from the UK a lot of sports references seem to go way over my head. But about a month ago when I first heard this track I was left watching an hour long documentary on the Steve Bartman Incident. “Don’t Blame Steve” is Kenny Dennis’ – Serengeti’s alter ago – take on that infamous night.
Brooklyn rapper, Ka, paints a regretful sounding track where he details important decisions people have to make to great effect. Off his recently released album Grief Pedigree.
British success story, Plan B, might not come off as the most eloquent guy but last month he gave his thoughts to an all-ears TEDxObserver crowd on hip-hop and the term ‘chav’, among other topics. It’s definitely well worth a watch whether you’re a fan of his music or not. I found myself agreeing with [...]
Lesson is about progressive & cliché-free hip-hop with intelligent lyrics. Striving for something more than the mainstream perception of hip-hop. This means no misogyny, no glorification of drug-use, no violence and no played out flaunting of personal wealth.
