This time last year, shortly after we set this thing up, we released our belated Soundtrack to the Summer – 51 minutes of laid back hip-hop for BBQs and sunny weekends. Over the last year we’ve found a lot more laid back hip-hop, just waiting for this point in the year, for our second annual Sound to the Summer. Tracklisting & Mixcloud link after the break.

Wordsmiths: A Collection of Instrumental Tracks to Write to
I’ll admit it, I was hoping to get the Best of 2010 mix out at the end of 2010 but it ended up coming out nearly two weeks into the new year. However, the other thing we were hoping to do was put out more of these things. Since our weekly Top Sixes are on hiatus (exciting developments to come soon though) this is one of the better ways to share older music with you, along with a some current stuff. So that’s why we’re putting out another January Mixcloud.
Even more free music for you today, this time from Elaquent. He’s dropped a mix of some older free music in the run up to his new album, The Midnight after, which drops on the 12th of February.
Download it here.
A compilation of soulful beats are yours to download over at http://soulection.com/. It features some well known artists including two of my favourite artists from last year, Elaquent and AFTA-1.

The Best of 2010: Album of The Year
It’s tough to compile these lists considering the excellent year we’ve had for music. Although we are here to celebrate the following ten artists and their excellent 2010 releases, they weren’t the only ones. So to all artists to remain true to the cliché-free hip-hop that we love here at Lesson Six, thanks for an awesome year. Anyway, let’s get down to the nitty gritty.
I’ve being doing a lot of writing over the past month, and when I write I like some brain massaging music to will me on. It can’t have any words in it as I’ll end up sub-consciously inserting verses into my FIFA 11 review, and that just does not work. So here it is, the beautiful bastard child of a day late Top Six and a two day early Instrumental Thursday.
