Best of 2012: Tracks of the Year

So here it is. Our final part of our Best of 2012 coverage concludes with our top 50 tracks of the year. I’ll avoid the clichés, but this has been a tough list to put together and a special thanks to everyone who produced great music throughout the year for making it tough. It’s been fun.

We’ve still got our guestlists for 2012, which will be coming up each day this week and then we’ll be returning to regular goodness. But for now, enjoy the end of the year with our Top 50 Tracks of 2012.

“Sleeping Dogs” by Moka Only

With Moka Only’s prolific pace it’s never a surprise when he releases an album up against someone else. But today he saw his album come out with fellow Canadian Abdominal along with Homeboy Sandman & Brother Ali’s new LPs. Needless to say, it’s been a good day for cliché-free hip-hop. And Moka O’s Airport 6 just got it’s first visuals for the career spanning “Sleeping Dogs”

When it comes to Moka Only, prolific doesn’t even come close. The 6th in his annual Airport series, Airport 6 is due out on the 18th of September, but URBNET have just released the album closer “To Keep Us Rollin’” and it’s a banger.

“Come Along” by Moka Only & Ayatollah

This video features Moka Only skating, wearing a wooly hat & doing a silly dance, which pretty much ticks the boxes for what we want out of a Moka Only video. Here are the visuals for Moka Only & Ayatollah’s chilled out “Come Along” off their new album Bridges.

The Best of 2011: Tracks of the Year (41-50)

The Best of 2011: Tracks of the Year (41-50)

This time last year we had to extend our 2010 tracks of the year just to give everyone credit for a great year in music. It turns out, that 2011 was no slouch either and over the next week on the site, we’ll hopefully prove that with more tracks in our recap of 2011 in Cliché-Free Hip-Hop. So with that being said, here’s numbers 50 to 41 in our tracks of the year countdown.

“Skronk” by Moka Only

I’ve always been of two minds about Moka Only. On one hand he’s a competent rapper with a tendency for picking out great sounding beats. On the other hand, he’s kind of like the one in the family you don’t talk about. Normally I’d point out how strange a track called Skronk is, but let’s save some time. All you need to know is that this track is strangely addictive.

Download: Ron Contour and Jimmy The Bang – Dynamite Sandwich

Ron Contour and Jimmy the Bang present Dynamite Sandwich. I love that sentence. These two chaps are better known as E.d.g.e and Moka Only, who seems to be popping up all over the place at the moment. Check out and download their free album below.

Very chilled out with some clever lyricism.

“Underground Pop Remix” by Josh Martinez & Moka Only

Don’t ask me what’s going on in this video. I have absolutely no idea. Pretty decent remix though.
