The Good Sin had his breakthrough moment, shared with 10,4 Rog last year, with the Late EP. This half an hour EP married a confident stripped-back sound with Sin’s diverse vocal talents. It really put the pair of them on the map in a burgeoning Seattle Hip-Hop scene. Nearly a full year later, The Good Sin has branched out to other producers (although still works with Rog on a few tracks here) and has just dropped his first full album since that striking release. Unfortunately though, a few minor tweaks to the formula end up biting back, as The Story of Love x Hate rarely gets near that assured sound.

Review: The Good Sin’s “Story of Love x Hate”
This is the latest single from The Good Sin’s album The Story of Love X Hate which will be released tomorrow. Really looking forward to the album and the evolution of The Good Sin’s sound from his EP last year.
The first track off The Good Sin’s new album “The Story of Love X Hate”, picks up exactly where the Late EP left off. Switch does a great job on the production here, again along similar lines Late, which is perfectly fine, it was one of our favourite releases of last year and we’ve been craving more ever since. The album is due out on the 14th of February.

The Best of 2011: Tracks of the Year (Final 10)
Before we move onto our albums and free downloadable of the year (along with a few guestlists), we’ve got the little matter of our top 10 tracks of 2011.
The fact that I listened to the Late EP more than most fully-fledged paid-for albums, is an excellent testament to how good it is. Here’s just hoping that, while this is the last video from that EP, it’s not the last we’ve heard of this natural fitting duo.
Last time I posted a Good Sin & 10.4 Rog video, I moaned that it wasn’t for “The Crown”. Patience, has paid off as they drop visuals for that same track, just in time for our end of year lists. For anyone who slept on the Late EP, here’s a polite reminder.
I would have preferred “The Crown” but a video for “Bad About You” from, another one of Seattle’s promising pool of talent, The Good Sin will have to do. Who’s album, The Story of Love & Hate, is due out next spring. But in the meantime go back and check out his free EP, “Late”, it’s safe to say it will be on our top five free releases of the year.
